You can still always update it (remember this is still in beta phase).<br \/>\n<strong>Make sure you have backed up your phone before trying this.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Follow the steps below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1<\/strong> \u2013 Install <a href=\"http:\/\/en.miui.com\/forum.php?mod=viewthread&amp;tid=58602&amp;highlight=cwm\" target=\"_blank\">CWM recovery 6.0.5.1<\/a> \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/uc?id=0B_M-QdcfhN5bU1BvOV9hYWl6U00&amp;export=download\" target=\"_blank\">Download here<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>To install CWM on Mi<\/strong> <strong>3<\/strong>, open the updater app, press menu button and then click \u201cselect update package\u201d. Select the \u2018CWM_recovery_r11_cancro.zip\u2019 and install it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Download the required files<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/download.cyanogenmod.org\/?device=cancro\">CyanogenMod<\/a> (ROM for Mi 3) \u2013270 MB<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidfilehost.com\/?fid=24052804347835438\">benzo-gapps-M-20151011-signed-chroma-r3.zip<\/a> (Gapps package for Android) \u2013 107.1 MB<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Then <strong>copy <\/strong>both the above files to the root directory (\/sdcard) of your phone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Flashing Android ROM on Mi 3 using CWM Recovery<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Power Down the phone. Press Volume Up + Power button to boot in to CWM Recovery mode.<\/li>\n<li>Go to \u2018advanced\u2019 and <strong>make sure \u2018active system\u2019 is 1<\/strong>. If active system is 2 then change it to system 1.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Select \u2018Wipe data\/ factory reset\u2019 and confirm to wipe. (Wiping may take sometime)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Select \u2018Wipe cache partition\u2019 and confirm.<\/li>\n<li>Go to advanced and \u2018wipe dalvik cache\u2019.<\/li>\n<li>Go back and select \u2018Install zip\u2019. Select \u2018choose zip from \/sdcard\u2019, then <strong>0\/<\/strong> and then choose the \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/download.cyanogenmod.org\/?device=cancro\">CyanogenMod<\/a>\u2018\u00a0file. <strong>Then install it to System 1<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Install Google Apps for Android<\/strong>\u00a0(GAPPS) \u2013 Go back and install the \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidfilehost.com\/?fid=24052804347835438\">benzo-gapps-M-20151011-signed-chroma-r3.zip<\/a>\u2019 file to System 1. I have tried many other GAPPS but most of them are not compatible hence benzo gapps is the only one which works perfectly with\u00a0Marshmallow ROM.<\/li>\n<li>Reboot your phone by selecting \u2018reboot system now\u2019. (Choose No when it asks to fix root permission and to root the device.)<\/li>\n<li>You phone can take 15 to 20 min to boot up on first time, so dont get panic.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I have installed it on\u00a0 Mi 3W (Indian version) and the ROM seems to be working fine, but remember its still in development.
