This is a great app. Helps you to monitor the internet usage on your mac. Bandwidth+ is a simple app so only tracks the network usage on the Mac it is running on. If you are tethered to an iPhone then it will count the usage while tethered.

Download YouTube video of specific format from command line

You can use youtube-dl command line tool do download videos from YouTube. By default it download the best version of the video available. But sometime you like to save your bandwidth or want a quicker download for that you can use following commands:

youtube-dl youtubepath -Fyoutube-dl-merge
This will give you list of format you can download with download size

youtube-dl youtubepath -f formatno
enter the format no which you want to download and that is it.

Download youtube video from command line

youtube-dlyoutube-dl is a small command-line program to download videos from It requires the Python interpreter (2.6, 2.7, or 3.3+), and works on all platform.

To install on windows click here

To install it right away for all UNIX users (Linux, OS X, etc.), type:

sudo curl -o /usr/local/bin/youtube-dl
sudo chmod a+x /usr/local/bin/youtube-dl

If you do not have curl, you can alternatively use a recent wget:

sudo wget -O /usr/local/bin/youtube-dl
sudo chmod a+x /usr/local/bin/youtube-dl

Mac logs everything you download

maclogMac OS X logs everything you have ever downloaded. You can check your self. Just open command prompt and enter following line:

sqlite3 ~/Library/Preferences/* 'select LSQuarantineDataURLString from LSQuarantineEvent'

You will get list of file you have every downloaded.
You can delete this log easily by running following command:

sqlite3 ~/Library/Preferences/* 'delete from LSQuarantineEvent'
