A Game Made Of Concentric Geometry
Ripple is the quietest arcade game I have built. There are no enemies, no death animations, no rapid taps. You touch the water and a ring spreads from your finger. When that ring’s edge crosses a floating leaf, the leaf is collected.
That is it. The trick is that ripples take time to expand and leaves sink after four seconds. So your tap location is a prediction problem – tap close to a leaf and the ring barely needs time to reach it. Tap far and the ring travels through three other leaves on the way.
Why Multiple Ripples Matter
You can have up to six ripples on the water at once. A single tap with good positioning can catch three or four leaves as the ring sweeps outward. A clumsy tap wastes the ripple on empty water.
This shifts the game from reflex to planning. The best players hold their tap until they see a configuration where one ripple harvests multiple leaves. The lazy players spam taps and watch their misses climb.
