How to reduce Bounce Rate for your site

ga-bounce-rateEvery website would love to Reduce there Bounce Rate. First let us understand what is Bounce Rate: It represents the percentage of visitors who enter the site and “bounce” (leave the site) rather than continue viewing other pages within the same site (wiki). So if someone comes to your site and then does nothing and leaves the site and goes some where else.

So how much Bounce Rate is OK? As a rule of thumb, a bounce rate in the range of 26 to 40 percent is excellent. 41 to 55 percent is roughly average. 56 to 70 percent is higher than average, but may not be cause for alarm depending on the website. Anything over 70 percent is disappointing for everything outside of blogs, news, events, etc. As per industry standards.

For years I was facing this issue. All your marketing efforts goes in drain if someone comes to your site and then just leaves. My site was giving we Bounce Rate of near 65% which is higher than average.

Things to do to reduce Bounce Rate:
1. Mobile friendly: people visiting Mobile / Tablets etc will leave your website on the first page if your site is not mobile friendly. Bounce may increase by 10% if your site is not mobile friendly. So we made sure we make the site and this blog as mobile friendly as possible.
2. Faster loading times: Make the site fast. Reduce unnecessary features cache the site if reduce to do so. But make it fast.
3. New content every time: Try to change the content every time so that repeating visitors have something new to explore. You can do this by adding new content to site at least twice a week.

By doing just this 3 things you will reduce the Bounce Rate. My Site Bounce Rate is now reduce from 65% to under 40% which is from above average to excellent. So follow this rules and you should be able to reduce the Bounce Rate.

As always do let me know your suggestion and feedback on this by posting in comments section.
